Castellbell i el Vilar es una población consolidada en un terreno de fuerte pendiente, configurada a partir de límites sucesivos que aprovechan los desniveles del terreno. La nueva biblioteca se sitúa en uno de los puntos más elevados de la localidad, constituyendo el último límite hacia el norte, con excepcionales vistas sobre la población y los macizos montañosos de Montserrat. Nos encontramos, pues, ante la posibilidad de dar respuesta a dos cuestiones arquitectónicas de primordial importancia, la configuración del borde urbano y la mirada hacia el paisaje. Estos son, básicamente, los conceptos manejados en la presente propuesta.
Castellbell i the Vilar is a consolidated town located in a strong-sloped landscape, configured by means of successive boundaries taking advantage of the topography. The new library is set in one of the highest places, in the last one limit towards the north, therefore with exceptional views over the whole town and the mountainous bulks of Montserrat. We face, then, the possibility of giving answer to two questions of crucial importance: the configuration of the urban boundaries and the views towards the landscape. These are, basically, the concepts handled in the present proposal.
